Happenings

We’ve been chatting up folks around the state of Texas and have found that everyone is interested in Solar! When we take our UTSolarD display to events the number one question asked is, “Can you build a solar powered house for me?” People want solar and they want the BLOOMhouse. People are fascinated by the marketable prototype. At events like Sustain-a-Ball and the Green Living Expo, we are always being asked if UT students will build a solar-powered house for people in our communities. It inspires us to make our marketable prototype a reality.
Talking to people about the Solar Decathlon competition and UT’s BLOOMhouse at various events around the state of Texas has been very rewarding and informative. We feel that it has connected us to what we can do to make BLOOMhouse the most livable solar house around. We have had tours of our house to introduce it to the public and get feedback from all the excited people in our community. We hosted a joint fundraiser with our local chapter of the US Green Building Council to link the great ideas in the area in Solar with what we can do to make our house better!
